The 2012 Grand Rand Airshow will be filling the skies over Rand Airport this Sunday 20th May 2012. Events start at 10:00 and promise to be a fun filled day of aerial excitement, ground aircraft, stalls and food. 

For the past few nights, my sleep has been extremely broken. I would sleep for an hour then wake up, I always had the same dream, an emotional one that involved my ex wife. Its sad that even this long afterwards I still allow myself to have such a reaction, guess its one of those two steps forward, one step back scenarios.

The past few weeks have been a tremendous roller coast, both physical and emotional. I know I have so much to be grateful for, I know I have everything going for me, I know I should be completely happy but something is lacking or missing. The problem is, I have no clue what it is, I don't understand whats going on and if I don't understand whats happening how can I expect anyone else too?

In early May, ABSA sent a email to 140 of its IT Staff advising them that they were being retrenched, attached to the mail was a form for staff to sign, the form they were signing was a resignation letter and not a acknowledgement of being retrenched, this caused a huge uproar, both that the staff were being retrenched and the decietful manner in which the retrenchments were being conducted. 

The poster was intriguing, plain white with the Bold Title Femme Fatale and a No Under 18's Logo and that was about it. You know how all adult shops simply have black windows with no advertising, well that's what this poster reminded me of, a poster for a live show and once which I had no clue what to expect. 

This coming Saturday, 12 May 2012 there will be a Beer Fest held at Molly Malones in Foreways. Entrance is R20 and all proceeds go to the Save the Rhino Charity.

Trade Union Solidarity issued a statement stating that a further 140 IT personal will be retrenched from ABSA, this in spite assurances from the ABSA management that there are no retrenchments planned at ABSA within the IT Department.

In a press release issued by the Department of Transport, they provide a reaction to the latest developments that have stemmed from the modern day soup oprah that is SANRAL. In the statement released this Morning, the Department of Transport acknowledges the speculation as to the root cause of outgoing SANRAL CEO Nazir Alli.

To add to the star studded line up of craft beers available at this years Jozi Craft Beet Fest 2012, the musical lineup has been announced.

In a press release issued by SANRAL today, they have announced that the board will appoint Mr Koos Smit as acting CEO of SANRAL once the current CEO vacates his post on the 3rd June 2012. The change in CEO comes as a result of the current CEO, Nazir Alli, tendering his resignation as the CEO of SANRAL.

In a press statement issued by SANRAL today, it has announced that the SANRAL board met on the 7th May 2012 where they received and accepted the resignation of the CEO Nazir Alli. Nazir Alli will remain in his position until the 3rd of June 2012. My Nazir Alli was a member of the SANRAL Board, from the inception of SANRAL in 1998.

If there is one thing I love, really really love, its my Girlfriend... Apart from that its a good Micro Brew, also referred to as Craft Beer. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the commercial brews that are out there, you know what you are getting and its consistent, year after year. Micro Brewing is like wine, it depends on the skill of the person making the brew, the ingredients, the temperature, so many things come into play when you make a good micro brew. 

Wow, last week was one that could not have been scripted better, no hollywood writer would ever have thought up the dramatic twists and turns of the secret meetings, last minute agreements, country decisions and even the hacker group anonymous getting in on some of the action. To summarize, Thursday we heard that COSATU and the ANC has reached a last minute agreement that E-Tolling would be suspended by a month, this is from COSATU of course. Then we get a simple release from the ANC stating they support the decision by the Transport Department to suspend e-tolling by a month, basically saying they had nothing to do with the agreement. Then, Saturday we hear that Judge Prinsloo granted the OUTA a urgent interdict against e-tolling, in effect putting the brakes on the whole project for a lot longer than simply the month agreed by COSATU and the ANC/Transport Department. 

Hacker Group Anonymous has allegedly declared war on SANRAL. Anonymous is not a single organisation, with a single leader, with a single voice. Anonymous is an idea, a concept, a belief that everyone has a voice and everyone should be heard. By ensuring that no one single leader exists it cannot be brought down, making it extremely difficult to track and stop. 

The movie starts well, amazing in fact, you are thrust into a action packed rescue mission. Explosions, Technology and Team work are all on display as the mission unfolds. For the first 30 minutes you think you are watching, what has to be, the best action movie ever. The sad thing is that it quickly feels like the writers run out of ideas and need to fill an hour with something in order to call this a movie. From here on out it starts feeling like an advertisement for the United Stated Military with some of their toys being shown off.

The whole premise of the movie is that it is based on "real world acts of valour", however its almost impossible to draw conclusion on what is meant to be real and fantasy.

Four explosions have shaken the Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk injuring at least 29 people. The blasts struck a series of locations in the city center. Local authorities have begun a terrorist investigation into the incident. Interfax reports that at least ten children were among the wounded. The first explosion went off as a crowded tram pulled into a stop injuring five passengers. Local authorities say it was caused by a bomb planted in a nearby rubbish bin. "The explosion was at a tram stop. The shockwaves smashed the tram's windows, and the doors buckled on two cars passing by. In one car, the airbags popped out. Police were there in a minute, fire fighters arrived in about five minutes," writes Master_Tyre, a city web forum user. Forty minutes afterwards a second explosion was reported close to the city's railway station, wounding seven while the third hit a park injuring one woman.

The Director General in the Department of Transport, Mr George Mahlalela reported that SANRAL and the Department of Transport will postpone the implementation of the e-tolling until 30th May 2012 to finalise regulations following input on regulatory and administrative issues from the public and interested stakeholders.

a sad, sad, day for South Africa to be bullied by a trade union like this. I would love to know what happened behing closed doors for this to come to pass. 

In a late night release, the ANC said, and I quote, "The African National Congress welcomes the decision of the Department of Transport to delay the implementation of the e-tolling system by a month.

This shows leadership and responsiveness on the side of the government."

Now, a further twist to the tale, previosly COSATU announced they made an agreement with the ANC, but the ANC is saying they agree with the deparement of transport, yet the department of transport head was at the hearings with OUTA against the whole delay of the e-tolling matter. All I can say is I smell a rat, something is not right here. 

In a interesting development, twitter came ablaze with COSATU announcing that the ANC has agreed to postpone the E-Tolling by a month while alternatives are investigated. What initially surprises me is that SANRAL and ANC are two separate institutions, SANRAL does not own the ANC, so how can they control SANRAL and make decisions on their behalf? Initially I thought that the ANC would ask SANRAL to postpone the E-Tolling for a month.
